Junior Bladers

Come and experience the thrilling sport of sprint kayaking and develop your paddling skills.

Commencement of programme Saturday 21st June at Lakeland Forum, Enniskillen from 1pm – 4pm.

Weekly sessions will continue from Tuesday 24th June from 7pm – 8pm and 8pm – 9pm.

All sessions will be conducted by BCU qualified coaches and the programme is aimed at boys and girls aged 10 -14.

Registration £40 for first 5 sessions including club membership (£25 for club members) and £5 per session after. Registration is limited to 16 based on a 1:4 coaching ratio.

All Ireland Marathon Kayak National Championships 2014

In association with CANI and Canoe Marathon Ireland

Venue: The Lakeland Forum, Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh (same as 2012). Directions and maps can be found at BT74 7BA.

Masters: aged 35 years or over on 1/1/2014.

Course: Deep calm waters of Lough Erne with mostly natural reeded banks. Courses of 12km (or more) will include the scenic and exciting loop of the town. Water suitable for understern rudders, however, shallows may be found along the banks or in proximity to bridge legs. Cruisers may be on the course.

Fees: £10 senior / £5 junior - per person per race. Novice race free.

Children: The Novice 2km race is a short race for children too young or inexperienced to do the 8km course – parents remain responsible for their safety, and paddlers must wear buoyancy aids and be able to swim.

Safety: Race briefing is required for all competitors – your own responsibility to attend. Rules of navigation must be adhered to. ICU safety rules apply. Neither the organisers nor the CANI/BCU/ICU accept responsibility for any damage or loss to persons or equipment. ICU/CANI/BCU membership cards/numbers required when entering, or purchase CANI day membership for insurance purposes. Rules:

Castle Island – there is the option of camping on the Island opposite the forum – where the portage was in 2012, and should be again this year. This will be very ‘rough & ready’ camping with no access into the buildings/facilities. We hope to have a ‘portaloo’ on the Island but that’ll be it!
